The business of data centers continues to rely on the use of the Unix operating systems compared to alternatives like Linux, according to the survey by consultancy GCG.

Research from the GCG company on Unix says they are producing systems for 5 years and is responsible for analyzing the implementation of the operating systems on physical systems.

Dan Olds, principal analyst at GCG, said that although sales of servers based on Linux and Windows have been high, Unix has maintained its positive trend.

The expert recalled the important role of Unix for companies because it ensures that applications that work properly are essential to certain systems.

The research data also show a decrease in the number of users who are losing their confidence in Unix, which currently is 20%, which was reduced over the past year.

Also, 76% of respondents believe that within five years they will continue relying on Unix systems.

On the other hand, the GCG report indicates that companies jointly using Unix and Linux systems consider Unix to have greater availability and are more reliable.
