Acer to use Windows 7 in its Acer W4 Phone
One of the manufacturers that missed the Windows Phone 7 earthquake was Acer. It has therefore just been a matter of time till it had a phone that supports the new Microsoft operating system, so here we are: Acer W4.
The characteristics are as normal as far as we've seen on other WP7 handsets like the Samsung Omnia 7 or LG Optimus 7. We are talking about a 3.6 inch screen with 480 × 800 pixels powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM 8255 processor and 8 GB of internal storage. The trio of buttons typical to WP7 phones.
What the Acer W4 has going for it is a powerful smartphone with an operating system with a great future. The trouble is, no doubt, is its very late compared to rivals that were released in late 2010. I understand that, as always, the price will be one of the vital reasons the market will decide its fate, and that Acer has always been pretty good at this. We'll see what happens when Mango starts to reach these mobiles, because what we know today is that it appears to be one of the best operating systems in the mobile market.
