The first leaks of icloud hinted that it is a service from Apple and today that's what was talked about at WWDC 2011 as Steve Jobs has revealed all the details.

icloud is a free music streaming service for those who buy music from Apple Store. Users can also it upload their music to Apple's servers where it is available directly from the browser to any device connected to the Internet, of course if you own an Apple device that is.

Apple has signed deals with Warner Music Group, EMI Music Group, Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment.

These are the main features of icloud:

  • Integrated with all applications.
  • No need to learn anything, as Jobs says, "just works."
  • You can now share calendars directly. And are automatically synchronized between all your devices.
  • Part of it will be free: Mail, Calendar and Contacts.
  • When you purchase an application from the App Store, synchronize to all your devices.
  • When you buy a new book, download it to all your devices.
  • iCloud Backup , automatically and securely back up all IOS devices, every day, via WiFi, while charging the iPhone, the iPad or iPod touch. The content is backed up is music, apps and books purchased, photos and videos, device settings and data apps. If you replace your IOS devices, just enter your Apple ID and password for your own safety, and icloud will restore address to your new device.
  • icloud Storage stores all documents created using APIs automatically to icloud Storage and push them to make all devices. When you edit a document on any device, icloud makes an automatic push and updates all other devices.
  • The Pages apps, Numbers and Keynote from Apple take advantage of icloud Storage. Users have up to 5 Gbytes of free storage for email, documents and backup. Note that the required storage for music, books purchased apps as well as the storage needed for Photo Stream, do not count toward the total of 5 Gbytes. Users can purchase more storage space, the details will be announced when it launches this fall icloud.
  • The Photo Stream icloud service automatically upload the pictures you take or you import any of your devices and push-mode sent wirelessly, to all your other devices and computers.
  • Photo Stream is integrated into the photo apps on all devices iOS and iPhoto on Macs and stored in the Photos folder on a PC. To save space, in each device are stored the last 1,000 photos, so they can be examined or moved to an album to storing them permanently. icloud stores each photo in the cloud for 30 days, long enough to connect devices to icloud and automatically download the latest photos from Photo Stream via WiFi.
  • ITunes in the Cloud (iTunes in the cloud) you can download the music you have previously purchased on iTunes in to all IOS devices, without charge, and when you purchase new music it can be downloaded automatically to all devices.
  • Music not purchased on iTunes you can enjoy the same benefits using iTunes Match. This service replaces our music for a version with 256 kbps AAC encoding without DRM, if it can identify with any of the 18 million songs from the iTunes Store.
  • ITunes Match will be available this fall as an annual subscription for $24.99.
  • Apple today released a free beta version of iTunes in the Cloud, without iTunes Match, for iPhone users, iPad and iPod touch using iOS 4.3.
  • ITunes in the Cloud supports all iPhones that support iOS 5 this fall.
